We hope you love our lovely alpaca sock yarn, sourced from British and Irish alpaca farms. It's gorgeous to knit and crochet with, with long lasting wearability because the small amount of nylon mixed in..
We have two beautiful hand-dyed options, which are slightly more expensive, which reflects the labour involved Note: these are now completely sold out. Check back next year after the shearing season).
We recommend 2.5mm or 3mm needles for this yarn.
Blend: % Alpaca, 25% nylon
Skein Size 3/12 Nm 4Ply giving 400m per 100g skein
Washing Instructions
Hand washing: Use lukewarm water and a specialist wool detergent. Hair conditioner in the final rinse will add extra softness. When washing and rinsing squeeze the garment rather than rubbing. Gently squeeze out excess water before rolling in a towel. Lay flat to dry.
Washing machines: Modern machines with delicate programme at 20C using a wool delicate detergent. Can be spun at 400 RPM.

Yarn arrived promptly feels really soft have yet to complete the socks but it appears to be knitting up fine
The alpaca sock yarn is so soft and warm that I had to buy some more for another pair of socks. It's lovely to knit with, and with a gentle hand wash the socks are soft and keep their shape. I would definitely recommend it. It's beautiful.
Hi Hazel, thank you for your lovely review, and for your advice about handwashing. It is funny how we all dread the handwash, but if we use lovely wool liquid soap that does not need rinsing it is actually quite therapeutic, don't you think?!
Communication with the company was good as I had a question before I ordered my yarn. The yarn arrived by the date promised and is truly as soft and beautiful as I had anticipated. Have not wound up the hanks yet (although I keep admiring them and touching them) as I have 4 other projects on the go, but am already thinking about how I might make use of further purchases from this company. I received my parcel a few days ago and opened it straight away. The order was correct and complete. I was blown away by the quality and softness of the yarn. No complaints from me, just another order in the future.
I would like to know if you do any other colours in the alpaca yarn as I would like some different colours to choose from. I am also allergic to merino wool which rules out the Manos range.
