Description
Intermediate to Advanced Knitting
This is knitted in Fisherman's Rib, a lovely more 3-dimensional look than traditional ribbing. It is fairly similar, and related to brioche, but much easier and quicker. Not recommended for beginners, but simple to learn once you have mastered the basics.
Made with our sofest alpaca-merino mixed yarn, so it is uber-super soft. The style is a bit the same, so comfortable and easy to wear, and you can knit it longer if you like a longer look.
Supplied in natural alpaca shade - an off white. Really suitable for vegetable dyes if you ever get bored of the white as this yarn receives colours really well.
You can choose the colour of the pompom during checkout.
Supplied with 300g (175m per 100g) Gorgeous Aran yarn made from 50% baby alpaca/50% baby merino, 5.5mm needles, a darning needle, and a faux fur pompom.
Because it's alpaca yarn....
- You can wear it out in the rain, and still keep your head dry (proven by us frenquently!)
- It won't itch, even if it's warm and your indoors or the sun comes out - it just stays comfy
- It's super uber soft and comfy
- Dog walkers, gardeners, and horse riders love it because they can crunch it up to nothing in their coat pocket (better without the pompom for this)
Pompom - we know some of you worry that rabbits are killed to produce fashion pompoms, but we can assure you that all our pompoms are FAUX, but still soft and fluffy.

What our customers say...

What's so Gorgeous
Virtually all the yarn we sell is from our own small herd of alpacas or sourced in the UK from other UK herds of alpacas. Some is 100% alpaca, others are mixed with up to 25% sheep's wool, also sourced from UK herds. We have one small collection of Peruvian yarns (the original home of all alpaca herds).
We use no man-made fibres or chemicals and our packaging is 100% recyclable

Sustainable Credentials
Alpaca yarn can be processed at lower temperatures, and no chemicals are used in the process
All colours are natural, and from our own and other UK grass-fed herds.
Alpaca yarn is long lasting, so products will literally last a life-time!

Uniqueness of Alpaca Yarn
Alpaca yarn is popular because it’s so soft, durable, luxurious and silky. In fact, it's stronger than mohair, finer than cashmere, smoother than silk, softer than cotton, warmer than goosedown, and more breathable than thermal knits. While it's similar to sheep’s wool, it is warmer, not prickly, and has no lanolin, which makes it hypoallergenic.
The fibre has a unique hollow quality that means it keeps you warm when it's cold, but keeps you cool when it's hot. It means it's also naturally water-repellent. As evidence, we wear our hats in the rain and come in with totally dry hair ... so finally, knitwear that you can wear in wind, rain and sunshine!
lt's even flame resistant!
